Great question. You're not doing anything wrong. Snail is a very effective spine stretch, if your body enjoys it. It's a difficult pose for many people, which is why you don't see it in my practices as often as seated forward bends. Feel free to swap it in for caterpillar anytime you wish!

Something I could use more of is time. I'm grateful to have such a full life lately, but it feels like there just aren't enough hours in the day to attend to it all.
