Greetings Yogis!
Holiday season is here.
The solstice is coming.
How are you adjusting your self-care routine during this time of year? 💫

Thanks for sharing this, Emma. Yin Yoga’s purpose is to make the poses work for the body, not the other way around. When a pose like hugging knees is difficult, it’s good to ask what the functional purpose of the pose is, and explore alternatives that serve the same purpose. I add it frequently as a way to gently release tension from the lower back while also sometimes incorporation relaxing, rhythmic movements like rocking or circling the knees. Other options that serve a similar functional purpose are windshield wipers, reclined butterfly and happy baby. Maybe one of those can be swapped in whenever you come across knee hugging. Another idea is to slide a cushion or bolster under your hips before you hug your knees, which will get gravity on your side and might be a more pleasant experience. Good luck exploring, and please let us know how it goes!

Great timing on this question, Rachel! I will be posting three videos of my three dumbbell workouts before the new year. Keep an eye out 😉
