To avoid your phone on public transport or when hou are waiting for something : have alternative activities . For example take a book with you in your bag or paper sudokus. Have more than 1 activity you can do, so that you don't reach out to your phone out of boredom.
Enjoying a bit of mindful breathing or looking at how beautiful the landscape is or the people around you, is also a very nice activity for when you are 'waiting' on something π€
