That sounds intriguing! I'll put that on my reading list. I'm currently reading the Tawny Man trilogy which is the sequel of the Farseer Trilogy written by Robin Hobb. While the story has the general traits of a fantasy novel, the author is very good at developing characters and plots and different types of magic. The main character is able to bond to an animal but this type of magic is generally depised and harshly punished. This means that under the telling of the story, there are more layers dealing with prejudice, ethics, etc.
A book which has very much inspired and touched me is The inhabited woman by Gioconda Belli. It is the (love) story of a young woman during the revolution in Nicaragua who gets infused by the spirit of an ancient woman warrior and who then leaves her sheltered life to try to help free her country from oppression.

I really enjoyed this quiet simple practice and the additional information. I also realized I had forgotten some things from my first practices. Sometimes a step back is really two steps forward.
