Yin yoga has helped me both physically and mentally. Physically, I feel more flexible and "bendy". I love longer holds and deep stretches. The sensation of tissue release is wonderful and sometimes triggers joint release, especially in my low back sacral area, which I have to give attention to on a daily basis. Mentally, through Yin, I have learned to slow down my busy mind, take deep breaths and be more mindful and present. I feel more at ease through my daily life and balanced. I also teach pilates, yin, and chair yoga. I often sub for a hatha yoga class and silver sneakers circuit. Additionally, I attend spin classes 2x a week and zumba 2x a week. I'm almost 71. I feel Yin yoga is my go to practice and has become my favorite.
Dim the lights or no lights; soothing playlist; calming lavender scent and props set up and ready to use as needed for that particular day and practice.
